Pininyahang manok, commonly known as pineapple chicken, a Filipino dish consisting of chicken braised in a milk or coconut milk-based sauce with pineapples.
Pininyahang Manok Recipe
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 small onion, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
- 3 pounds chicken, cut into serving parts
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 cup table cream
- salt and pepper to taste
- In a pot over medium heat, heat oil. Add onions and garlic to pan and cook until softened. Add chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned. Lower heat, cover and simmer until chicken is tender (chicken will release its own juices).
- Add pineapples and cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue to simmer for about 5 minutes or until sauce is slightly thickened. Continue to cook for about 30 seconds. Serve hot.
