Beef Shawarma Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 350 g beef sirloin, thinly-sliced (tapa cut)
  • Marinade:
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 pc Knorr Beef Cube
  • 4 pcs calamansi, juiced
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • pinch ground black pepper
  • Garlic Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup Lady’s Choice Real Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Fillings:
  • 1 pack medium flour tortillas or pita bread
  • 1 medium-sized white onion, sliced thinly
  • 3 pcs ripe tomatoes, deseeded and sliced thinly
  • 1/2 pc cucumber, peeled, deseeded and sliced into thin sticks
  • Optional: 1 pc singkamas, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 cup thinly sliced cabbage or iceberg lettuce or red cabbage
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese

Cooking Instructions:

  1. First, combine all the beef ingredients in a bowl, ensuring thorough mixing. Let the mixture marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Next, prepare the sauce by combining all the sauce ingredients. Mix well and transfer the mixture into a squeeze bottle using a funnel. Chill the sauce until ready to use.
  3. Now, let’s assemble the wraps. Heat a grill pan or flat frying pan over high heat. Drain the beef from the marinade and grill until fully cooked, working in batches to prevent overcrowding. Allow the beef to cool slightly, then chop it into bite-sized pieces.
  4. To assemble the wraps, toast tortillas or pita bread on a flat pan until lightly browned. Place the toasted bread on a plate and add the filling in the center, starting with lettuce or cabbage, followed by chopped beef, sliced tomatoes, onions, cucumber, and singkamas if using. Drizzle some sauce over the filling and sprinkle with grated cheese. Roll the wrap tightly and wrap it in foil. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients, dividing the fillings among the breads.

Now, your Pinoy Shawarma wraps are ready to enjoy! Whether you’re engaging in lively conversation, playing a game of chess, or simply spending time together in the kitchen, these wraps are sure to delight.
